Permanent Lip BLush

Grab your morning and relax because you’ll be saving at least 15 minutes from your makeup routine. This is your high maintenance way of not being high maintenance!

What is Lip Blush?

Lip blushing is a permanent makeup technique that creates a lip tint look. You can pick the color and technique to get the look you desire. Lip blushing is done with a tattoo machine and the effect lasts 3-5 years. Some of the benefits include lips that look more defined without fillers, restores color to pale lips, camouflages scars and hypo-pigmentation, and may eliminate the daily use of pencils to outline, fill in or reshape lip borders.

Let’s talk!

Small Details Make a BIG Difference

The right pre-care and aftercare can truly make a massive difference in results. To help you get the best results possible from your PMU procedure I’ve outlined a formula that will help to ensure you get the best results possible.*

*Please read over this information carefully as I AM NOT LIABLE FOR ANY PROBLEMS CAUSED BY INCORRECT PRECARE/AFTERCARE. Following careful precare/aftercare will give you the BEST possible results and promote good healing. IF YOU ARE PRONE TO COLD SORES AND ARE NOT ON AN ANTI-VIRAL OR ARE NOT TAKING YOUR ANTI-VIRAL PROPERLY YOU WILL EXPERIENCE PAINFUL BLISTERING WHICH I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR. If you have EVER had a cold sore before it is MANDATORY that you are taking an anti-viral.

  • You will get much better results when you properly prep. It all starts with a good canvas! The procedure area must be healthy, strong, non-sensitive and non-irritated. Here’s how to get your skin ready for the procedure:

-If you are prone to cold sores you must be on an anti-viral 5 days before and must continue it 5 days after your procedure. THERE IS NO EXCEPTION TO THIS RULE! (I have seen best results in clients who were on a higher dosage)

-An anti-viral can be prescribed by your primary care physician. Notify them that you will be receiving lip blush and are prone to cold sores.

-If anti-viral is not taken painful breakouts will occur throughout treatment area and the possibility of no color retention may occur.

-Even if you have not had a cold sore before, we recommend all clients take L-lysine 2 weeks before the appointment and 2 weeks following the appointment

.-Do not pick/tweeze/wax/perform electrolysis one week before the procedure

-Do not tan two weeks prior or have sunburned face/skin

-Do not have any type of facial 2 weeks prior to treatment

-Do not work out the day of the procedure.

-Do not have lip fillers 3 weeks prior

-Do not take Fish Oil or Vitamin E one week prior (natural blood thinners)

In order to avoid excessive bleeding and poor color deposit:

-Do not drink alcohol 24 - 48 hours before your tattoo

-Do not consume coffee or any caffeine 24 hours before your procedure

-Do not take an aspirin or ibuprofen for pain relief (this thins the blood)

  • -Avoid eating and drinking at least 5 hours after your appointment and do not drink tap water.

-Do not eat spicy, oily, acidic or greasy foods.

-Do not stretch lips and cut all food to bite size pieces.

-Rinse your mouth with antiseptic mouthwash 4 times or more a day, including every morning/night and right after you eat and drink. for 10 days.

-Apply ointment several times a day for 10 days to lessen scabbing. Lips should always be moisturized. Dap onto the skin DO NOT rub.

-After scabbing is complete you may continue to moisturize 2 times a day to keep lips hydrated and healthy.

-A lip mask found in your home care kit can be placed in the refrigerator and applied for 20 minutes the night after your appointment.

-Periodic touchups every 12-18 months will ensure continued maintenance of color.

-THOUGH RARE, INFECTION IS POSSIBLE IF AFTERCARE IS NOT HANDLED CORRECTLY AND WITH CAUTION. IF YOU SEE SIGNS OF INFECTION SUCH AS INCREASED REDNESS, FEVER, DRAINAGE, OR OOZING CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY.

  • -Keep lips dry for a minimum of 4-5 days after the procedure. Apply ointment before brushing teeth as a protective barrier.

-When your lips start to shed, do not pick, peel, or pull the skin

-Do not use saline water. It may cause the ink to pull from the skin

-Drink liquids through a straw until lips are done healing

-Use minimal NON-WHITENING toothpaste. Use straw when spitting out water

-Do not use any soaps or chemicals on your lips. Use a washcloth to wash your face for better control.

-Use a fresh pillowcase, silk pillowcases are especially nice to reduce friction

-No facials, botox, chemical treatments or microdermabrasion for 4 weeks

-No working out for 48 hours and avoid touching your lips AFTER YOUR LIPS HAVE HEALED

-Do not expose your lips to direct sunlight or tanning beds. It’s new skin and will be prone to burning which can cause a change in color/scarring

-Avoid long hot showers for the first 10 days.

-Avoid sleeping on your face for the first 10 days. If you struggle with this try a travel pillow to keep your head straight.

-Avoid swimming, steam rooms, saunas, hot tubs for the first 10 days

-Avoid topical makeup including sunscreen on the area

-DO NOT rub, pick or scratch the treated area.

-Do not smoke or kiss for 10 days

-Avoid Retin-A, moisturizer, glycolic acids, exfoliants and anti-aging products always on the procedure area. These can cause pigments to fade

-Apply lip moisturizer with sunblock if going under direct sunlight and avoid tanning beds.

Lip Healing Schedule

Day 1:

Lips are swollen and 20-25% darker than healed result

Day 2:

Swelling and redness will subside. Lips will feel tender, tight, and dry

Day 3-7:

Lips will start to shed and lighten

Day 8-12:

Shedding will be complete.

Week 2-6

Lip color will come back darker each day.

Week 6-8

Schedule touch up.

Your lips will be swollen for the first 24 hours and will take approximately 5 days to heal. During this time your lips will shed, feel dry, and look patchy. The color will fade about 30% after the first few days. The day after the lip blush appointment, your lips will feel inflamed and you may feel like peeling you lip skin. Please make sure not to do this as it will pull out the ink and negatively affect your retention. When your lips start to shed, do not pick, peel, or pull the skin

If you have any freckles on your lips they may appear darker during the healing process but will fade back to normal once healing is complete. For those who have a thin white border around their lips (vermillion border) it may appear darker like lip liner but will fade once healing is complete.
