Understanding Peels

  • -Use of Isotretinoin (Accutane) in the past 12 months

    -Use of Rx keratolytics in the past 7 days (Retin-A, Renova, Differin, Azelex, etc.)

    -Use of hydrocortisone in the past 7 days

    -Known allergies to peels

    -Known allergies to Aspirin (salicylic acid)

    -Active facial rashes, cold sores, open lesions, recent facial surgery, sunburn

  • -Discontinue the use of Rx topical keratolytics at least 7 days prior to your peel appointment

    -Discontinue the use of hydrocortisone at least 7 days prior to your peel appointment

    -Begin your peel prep 1-3 weeks prior to your peel appointment depending on your skin type and the selected peel strength (failure to properly prep your skin could result in post inflammatory hyperpigmentation)

  • -Begin mandatory post Tx Kit, especially with higher strength peels to avoid unfavorable results

    -MUST be using an SPF (NO EXCEPTIONS)

    -Avoid glycolic acid and lactic acids for a minimum of 72 hours post-treatment.

    -Avoid chlorine and steam for a minimum of 72 hours post-treatment

    -Allow skin to shed on its own (DO NOT ASSIST)

    -Avoid heat and sun during the peeling phase (~7 days)

  • -Follow all pre-care and post treatment guidelines

    -For optimal results, book a series of 4 to 6 treatments spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart (the amount of treatments and spacing of treatments depends on peel strength)
